Purple Ski Nanny Service

Purple Ski private nannies

For child care during the day, we offer our own private nanny service, to look after your children in the comfort of your chalet. This service must be pre-booked - availability is limited; you can either book a nanny for the whole week, or just for the hours that you need.

You can rest assured that your children are in safe hands. Our nannies are hand-picked, screened (including references and police checks) and trained by us. They are English speaking, qualified to NNEB or equivalent standard or have significant formal childcare experience, and hold a first aid certificate.

As well as making their time as fun as possible, offering a variety of indoor and outdoor activities (such as sledging, building snowmen, arts and crafts, games and story telling), the Purple Ski nannies will also provide a healthy and nutritious lunch, drinks and snacks for children under their care.

Hours, prices and ratios

Our nannies are usually booked on a full week basis (5.5 days per week, 8 hours per day - with the half day to be agreed between you) but this can be flexible, as long as there is a minimum of 24 hours booked in the week and with no less than 4 consecutive hours at a time. The rate is 16 euros per hour for a part week, 14 euros per hour for a full week (5.5 days).

Note that you will need one nanny per baby up to 1 year old; for children up to 4 years, there is a maximum of 2 children per nanny, up to 6 years, 3 children and 7 years+, a maximum of 4 children per nanny.

Please book early to ensure availability!

The nannies

Our in-house nannies for 2013 will be Elizabeth Gibbs, Rosie Naish and Marie Wilkinson.

Elizabeth GibbsElizabeth Gibbs, 27 years

Elizabeth, who worked for us last year, started studying childcare at the age of 16, obtaining her CACHE level 3 Diploma in 2003. Since then, she has been working as a teaching assistant and managing an "out of school club" at the same school. Her most recent experience is with 3 to 5 year olds (daytime) and 3 to 11 year olds (care club) but has experience with younger children and also babies. She is great with children - very hands on, active, creative and resourceful, a real entertainer, and feedback about her from last year's guests and her referees was fantastic!

Rosie NaishRosie Naish 21 years

Rosie has always been around children and involved in childcare. The eldest of 5 children, Rosie has often helped her mother, who has been a childminder and nanny and now runs a foster company. Rosie started babysitting at 15 years and formal childcare training when she left school at 16 years and now has her NVQ level 3 Diploma in Children's Care, Learning and Development and 5 years full time experience in day nurseries and after school clubs. She is most familiar and comfortable with working with toddlers and children ages up to 7 years, but has also looked after small babies and older children up to 11 years. Rosie is very bubbly and children love her; as for Rosie she loves "the energy children give off, their funny little comments...just make my day better!". She's going to be a real asset to our team.

Marie WilkinsonMarie Wilkinson, 27 years

Marie comes to us with a wealth of childcare experience; she has degrees in Early Childhood Studies and Social Work (equivalent to NVQ level 5) and has worked with an around children from an early age in a range of settings including pre-school (3-4 year olds), day camp (4-9 years), a family assessment centre (babies, toddlers and their parents), as a child protection social worker (0-18 years and parents/extended family) and most recently as a private nanny to a 1 year old baby. Very calm and very smiley, she is a natural with children of all ages, great at "tuning in" to them and creating an immediate rapport, and is very creative and resourceful at entertaining them too. We are confident she will be very popular and a great success.

Alternatives

Should our in-house nannies be fully booked, we also work with Katia Pozerskis who runs a private nanny agency called Merinannies. Katia, a qualified teacher and mother of two, has been operating in Méribel & the 3 Valleys since 2003 the 3 Valleys since 2003; feedback about her and her team has always been very positive.

Also, for children between the ages of three and five, the ESF (French run) "Les P'tits Loups" kindergartens in Mottaret and Méribel are open between 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. every day. The playgrounds are equipped with inflatable characters and ski tows; towards the middle of the week children start to learn the rudiments of skiing. During bad weather children can enjoy an air-conditioned chalet equipped with games and a rest area.

The ESF's (French run) Club Saturnin in Méribel can also look after children aged 18 months to 3 years.
