Purple Ski Nanny Service

Purple Ski private nannies

For child care during the day, we offer our own private nanny service, to look after your children in the comfort of your chalet. This service must be pre-booked - availability is limited; you can either book a nanny for the whole week, or just for the hours that you need.

You can rest assured that your children are in safe hands. Our nannies are hand-picked, screened (including references and police checks) and trained by us. They are English speaking, qualified to NNEB or equivalent standard or have significant formal childcare experience, and hold a first aid certificate.

As well as making their time as fun as possible, offering a variety of indoor and outdoor activities (such as sledging, building snowmen, arts and crafts, games and story telling), the Purple Ski nannies will also provide a healthy and nutritious lunch, drinks and snacks for children under their care.

Hours, prices and ratios

Our nannies are usually booked on a full week basis (5.5 days per week, 8 hours per day - with the half day to be agreed between you) but this can be flexible, as long as there is a minimum of 24 hours booked in the week and with no less than 4 consecutive hours at a time. The rate is 16 euros per hour for a part week, 14 euros per hour for a full week (5.5 days).

Note that you will need one nanny per baby up to 1 year old; for children up to 4 years, there is a maximum of 2 children per nanny, up to 6 years, 3 children and 7 years+, a maximum of 4 children per nanny.

Please book early to ensure availability!

The nannies

Our in-house nannies this year are Rosanna Brown, Elizabeth Gibbs and Kerry Wigglesworth.

Rosanna BrownRosanna Brown, 21 years

Rosanna decided at a young age that she wanted to go into childcare, and studied for 2 years at the renowned Chiltern College, obtaining her CACHE level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education. Since then, she has been working as a private, in-house nanny/ housekeeper/ cook for c.1 year, looking after 2 boys aged 3 and 4 years, also in other part time and short term (holiday) private nanny positions. During her training she has looked after babies aged from 3 months, but her experience has tended to be with older children from 2-6 years old. Very active and "fun", Rosanna loves taking children on outings and adventures, but also has lots of great ideas for arts and crafts projects and games within the home. We are confident she will be very popular.

Elizabeth GibbsElizabeth Gibbs, 27 years

Elizabeth started studying childcare at the age of 16, obtaining her CACHE level 3 Diploma in 2003. Since then, she has been working as a teaching assistant and managing an "out of school club" at the same school. Her most recent experience is with 3 to 5 year olds (daytime) and 3 to 11 year olds (care club) but has experience with younger children and also babies. She is great with children - very hands on, active, creative and resourceful, a real entertainer, and comes to us with fantastic references!

Kerry WigglesworthKerry Wigglesworth, 21 years

Kerry started working and training in childcare when she was 16, obtaining her CACHE level 2 diploma in 2007 and NVQ level 3 in 2009. Since qualifying, she has been working at a kindergarten first as assistant then room leader, looking after children aged 2-3 years old. She has also done lots of private childcare and worked as a teacher's assistant in a primary school (6 year olds). During her training, she worked in nurseries and an in pre-schools so has experience with children of all ages. Kerry is very smiley, generous and has initiative; she's going to be an asset to our team.

Alternatives

Should our in-house nannies be fully booked, we also work with Katia Pozerskis who runs a private nanny agency called Merinannies. Katia, a qualified teacher and mother of two, has been operating in Méribel & the 3 Valleys since 2003 the 3 Valleys since 2003; feedback about her and her team has always been very positive.

Also, for children between the ages of three and five, the ESF (French run) "Les P'tits Loups" kindergartens in Mottaret and Méribel are open between 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. every day. The playgrounds are equipped with inflatable characters and ski tows; towards the middle of the week children start to learn the rudiments of skiing. During bad weather children can enjoy an air-conditioned chalet equipped with games and a rest area.

The ESF's (French run) Club Saturnin in Méribel can also look after children aged 18 months to 3 years.
