Our trusted partners Dereck and Beverly Joubert have been offering extraordinary safari experiences in Kenya, Botswana, and Zimbabwe for over 20 years. Award-winning filmmakers and National Geographic photographers, they created Great Plains Conservation to share their passion for the African landscapes and wildlife with their guests, while supporting local conservation and community development programmes through their charity, the Great Plains Foundation.

Choose from their small and special collection of luxury camps and lodges, all located in private concessions or conservancies and comprising an average of just five luxury tents or suites. With an unmatched density of wildlife, a sense of seclusion that soothes the soul, vast star-filled skies, and a breathtaking variety of landscapes, this is simply unlike anywhere else you will ever visit.

Kenya

Clustered around the Maasai Mara and the Chyulu Hills, our Kenyan safari camps are perfectly positioned for immersing yourself in the unbelievable diversity of wildlife, not to mention taking a hot air balloon ride or exploring on horseback. From treetop suites to luxury lodges with views across the savannah, you’re guaranteed an unforgettable experience in this iconic corner of Africa.

Mara Nyika

The camp’s six divine, canvas tented suites are perched just under the tree canopy and connected by walkways, ensuring uninterrupted views across the plains. Each one possesses its own private verandah, where you can take in a world-class sunset or simply enjoy the sounds of the surrounding wilderness.

Mara Nyika Camp is part of the Great Plains Réserve Collection, and is the ultimate place to get away from it all and immerse yourself in pristine nature.

The camp’s six suites are housed in light, airy canvas tents, and are filled with traditional yet stylish furnishings that evoke the safaris of long ago while adding a touch of modern class. Your tent is your cocoon of peace and privacy, with a private verandah where you can capture photos of birdlife with the provided professional camera equipment, or soak in a mobile bathtub while admiring the sunset.

Ol Donyo Lodge

Ol Donyo Lodge offers you the opportunity to experience a whole other side to this breathtakingly diverse country. Positioned on a tree-studded hillside in the Maasai-owned Mbirikani Group Ranch, it benefits from the wildlife-rich expanses of the Chyulu Hills National Park while commanding awe-inspiring views of Africa’s highest mountain, the inimitable Kilimanjaro.

Botswana

Botswana’s wildlife-rich waterways, including the sprawling Okavango Delta, are home to the most incredible array of animals and birdlife. Zarafa Camp

Zimbabwe

Our luxury safari camps in Zimbabwe are blessed with staggering views of this beautiful country. Whether you opt for a riverside location on the banks of the Zambezi – where canoe safaris offer the chance to see elephants and hippos in their natural habitats – or a private thatched villa near the thundering Victoria Falls, these are landscapes of cinematic proportions.

Tembo Plains

This is arguably the most luxurious safari camp in the whole of Zimbabwe, part of the Great Plains Réserve Collection and the only Relais & Châteaux camp in the country. Nestled on the forest-fringed banks of the Zambezi river, with panoramic views across the water to the hills rising in the distance, the Tembo Plains Camp offers a seamless blend of unmatched comfort, timeless design, and a remote, wild feel.
